The Ohio state quarter was created by artist Don Everhart and was released in 2002. The design of the Ohio quarter features a portrait of President William McKinley, a representation of the Wright Brothers' first flight, a basket of apples to represent the state's agricultural heritage, and a map of the state. The design also features the inscription "The Birthplace of Aviation" to commemorate the Wright Brothers' first flight, which took place in Ohio. The other inscriptions on the quarter are "Ohio", "1803" (the year Ohio became a state), and "E Pluribus Unum". The basket of apples symbolizes the state's agricultural heritage, while the map of Ohio symbolizes its geographic diversity. The portrait of President McKinley pays homage to the 25th president, who was born in Ohio.

The second Ohio State Quarter

The Ohio National park quarter from the "America the Beautiful Quarters" series was issued on August 28, 2017. The quarter features a design of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. The design includes a representation of two of the famous Wright Brothers' achievements, the Wright Flyer III airplane and a representation of Wilbur Wright, the pilot of the airplane. The design also includes inscriptions of "Dayton Aviation", "Ohio", "2017", and "E Pluribus Unum".

The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park was established to commemorate the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers and their contributions to aviation. The park includes the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, and the Wright Cycle Company Complex. The park serves to preserve the legacy of the Wright Brothers, and to educate visitors about the brothers' pioneering work in aviation.

The Ohio National park quarter is part of the "America the Beautiful Quarters" series, which honors national parks and other sites of national importance in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The series was launched in 2010 and will continue through 2021. The series serves to honor the beauty and history of the United States, as well as to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Park Service.
