Pomeroy is a village in Meigs County, Ohio, located along the Ohio River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,852. Pomeroy has a rich history, as it was founded in 1818 and served as a hub for the coal industry in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The town has a number of historical landmarks, including the Meigs County Courthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Pomeroy-Mason Bridge, which was the longest suspension bridge of its kind when it was built in 1928. Today, Pomeroy is known for its small-town charm and its beautiful natural surroundings, including the Ohio River and nearby Wayne National Forest.
