Logan County, Oklahoma

Logan County is located in the central part of Oklahoma, and it was created on July 16, 1890, as one of the original seven counties in Oklahoma Territory. The county was named after Senator John A. Logan of Illinois, a Union general during the Civil War, and a significant figure in early American politics.
The land originally belonged to the Wichita, Kiowa, and the Apache tribes. Following the Land Run of 1889, the area was opened for white settlement, and Guthrie was established as the territorial capital. Logan County became an important site both economically and politically as it rapidly developed.
One fun fact about Logan county is that it served as the Oklahoma Territory's capital from 1890 until Oklahoma became a state in 1907. Today, Logan County remains a vibrant region with varied historical sites, such as the Guthrie Historic District, which serves as a testament to the early 20th-century commercial architecture, and the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, where visitors can learn more about the region's history.
