1. Gresham was named after Walter Quinton Gresham, who was the Postmaster General during President Chester A. Arthur's administration.

7. In 1986, Gresham became the first city in Oregon to offer curbside recycling to its residents.
8. Gresham is also home to the Springwater Corridor Trail, a 40-mile multi-use path for walkers, runners, and cyclists that stretches from downtown Portland to Boring, Oregon.
