Catawissa is a borough in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, located on the west bank of the Susquehanna River. The name Catawissa is derived from a Native American language and means "growing fat." The village was settled in the 18th century, and the Catawissa Historic District has many well-preserved buildings from that era.
