Johnstown is a city located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and has a population of approximately 20,000 people. It was initially settled in the 1770s and was known for its iron and steel production during the 19th and 20th centuries. The most famous event in Johnstown's history happened in 1889 when the city suffered a catastrophic flood, which resulted in over 2,000 deaths and the destruction of the city. Today, Johnstown is known for its historic sites, including the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, as well as its beautiful natural scenery and outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and skiing. The city is also home to several museums, including the Johnstown Children's Museum and the Heritage Discovery Center.
