The village was named after William Adam who was a landowner in the area in the mid-18th century.
Adamstown used to be a major transportation hub in the 1800s with the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad line passing through.
The annual Adamstown Antiques Extravaganza draws thousands of visitors each year from all over the country to browse the many antique shops in the village.
The historic Adamstown firehouse, which was built in 1921, now houses the Adamstown Area Library.
