Ambridge, Pennsylvania was originally known as the "Harmony Society" settlement, which was founded by German Lutheran separatists in 1824. The town was built around the Harmony Society's communal lifestyle and the economy was primarily based on their agricultural and manufacturing endeavors. In 1984, the National Park Service designated a section of Ambridge as a historic district due to the town's unique history and architecture. Ambridge is also home to the Old Economy Village, a historic site and museum that preserves the town's rich history and legacy. Today, Ambridge is a small town with a population of around 6,000 people, and it's located about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
