Braddock, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Here are some interesting facts about the village:
1. Braddock was named after General Edward Braddock, who led an unsuccessful expedition against the French at Fort Duquesne in 1755.
2. The borough was established in 1867, and was originally the site of the first successful iron mill in the United States.
3. Braddock's Carnegie Library is the first library in the United States that was funded by industrialist Andrew Carnegie.
4. The borough was the site of the historic Battle of Homestead in 1892, where workers fought for better working conditions in the steel mills.
5. The Edgar Thomson Steel Works, located in Braddock, is the last surviving steel mill founded by legendary industrialist Andrew Carnegie.
6. The population of Braddock has drastically decreased over the years, going from over 20,000 in the 1920's to just over 2,000 today.
7. The borough has been the subject of various documentaries and films, including the 2009 documentary "Braddock America" directed by Jean Loic Portron and Gabriella Kessler.
