Ellsworth, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Here are some interesting facts about the village:
1. Ellsworth was named after Colonel James Ellsworth, who was a local attorney, a Union Army colonel, and a congressman.
2. The village was originally settled by Native Americans, particularly the Shawnee, who used the area as a hunting ground.
3. Ellsworth was once a significant coal-mining town, and the miners who worked here played a critical role in the history of the region.
4. In 1903, an explosion in one of the coal mines in Ellsworth killed 27 workers.
