Roaring Spring was named after a nearby natural spring with a particularly strong current. The village grew from a small settlement into a town with the development of the Roaring Spring Blank Book Company in the late 1800s. The company, which produced blank books, pads, and other paper products, was a major employer in the region. Today, Roaring Spring is home to several small businesses and is known for its quiet, small-town charm. It also features historic architecture and landmarks, such as the Roaring Spring Historic District and the Spring Dam, which helped power the paper mill.
