Homer City, Pennsylvania is a small borough with a population of approximately 1,600 people. It was named after Homer City, New York, the hometown of one of the founders. Homer City was originally incorporated as a village in 1872 and became a borough in 1904. The area was historically known for coal mining, and the community is home to the Homer City Generating Station, a large coal-fired power plant. The borough hosts an annual Homer City Pumpkin Festival, which is a popular event for both locals and visitors.
