Marietta is a small borough located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the eastern bank of the Susquehanna River and is known for its historic charm and beautiful river views. The village was founded in 1812 and received its name in honor of Marie Antoinette, the queen of France. Today, Marietta boasts a variety of historic landmarks, including the National Historic Landmark, Wright's Ferry Mansion, as well as several other historic homes and buildings.
One popular attraction in Marietta is the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, a scenic trail that stretches for 14 miles along the Susquehanna River, passing through Marietta and several other communities. The trail is popular for cycling, walking, and jogging, and offers stunning views of the river and surrounding countryside.
Marietta is also home to several local businesses, including antique shops, restaurants, and cafes. The village is home to several community events throughout the year, including a Fourth of July celebration and a Christmas candlelight tour of historic homes.
