Duryea is a borough located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, with a population of approximately 4,900 people. It was named after Hiram Duryea, who was the president of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad.
The town was incorporated in 1891, and its early industries included coal mining, brick making, and silk manufacturing. Today, the main industries include manufacturing and health care services.
