Interested in fun facts and the history of Laurens, SC?
Then read on!

One fun fact about Laurens, South Carolina is that it was once known as the "Glass Capital of the World" due to a thriving glass industry that operated there in the early 1900s, before the Great Depression. Companies such as Palmetto Glass Works, Clinton Glass Works and Laurens Glass Company were major producers, and the glass they made included everything from bottles and jars to ivory-colored insulators for power lines. Today, only a few of these glass factories remain, with the largest being the Owens-Illinois facility just east of the city.
