My name is Gemma Mottern and I am fortunate to have spent my whole life in the Appalachian Mountains. In my previous career I spent 20 years as a paramedic and 8 years as a volunteer firefighter. I have always enjoyed helping people. I helped people in life and death situations, but now I help people with important decisions they make about where to live, selling their home, downsizing, finding that first home, or even finding the land to build their dream home or private retreat on. I have a great deal of knowledge of the areas I serve, because those areas have been my neighborhoods growing up.
There is nothing more fulfilling for me, as a Realtor, to see the smile on the face of a new home buyer as they receive the keys for that home. I also like to know that I had a part in helping a seller be able to make that move to their new home after selling their previous home. My careers have changed, but the satisfaction I achieve from being able to help people when they have a need is just as rewarding as ever.
My husband Nathan and I own and operate a ranch where we raise grass fed beef in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. When I am not doing realty related activities, I am usually on our ranch where there is always something to do. I also enjoy camping, fishing, photography, travel and spending time with my family. I am a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church in Roan Mountain, TN and I am also involved in other various volunteering activities throughout the region. I am also a graduate of East Tennessee State University and have a degree in Psychology.
