I was born and raised in Bledsoe County, graduating high school in 1976. At an early age, I was introduced to working with the public. My father owned and operated a small service station. There was a gas war in the late 60's and gas at our pump was 39 cents per gallon. We had full service back then and there were long lines for hours!

In the late 60's and early 70's, my mom owned and operated a drive-in restaurant called Martha's Drive Inn. My sister Debbie and I were carhops. Mom and my brother Rick were the cooking staff. We stayed open until 1 a.m. on weekends and stayed very busy! At that time, you could buy a hamburger steak dinner with fries, salad, rolls, a drink, and free refills for 1.25. It's no wonder we were always so busy!

I have always worked with the public. I owned and operated a convenience store for 10 years, and at the same time a hair salon called BJ's California Concept. After running both places for a few years, I vowed that I would never do that again!

My mom encouraged me to get into the real estate business in the early 90's. I started out with a desk and a phone in my mom's old drive-in building. I continued to cut hair until late into the night. After 3 years, I went into real estate full-time. I have been an agent/broker since 1997 and have been through the highs and lows that the real estate business provides. I've made many new friendships, some of which will last a lifetime. I've found that the most rewarding thing about this business is the people I have met and have been able to help with their real estate needs, if only in a small way. I LOVE THIS BUSINESS!

I owe my success, not only in real estate, but in life in general, to my mom. She taught me that in life there is more pleasure in helping others that have not been as fortunate as you. In the real estate business, I have been able to assist some folks along the way. With this being said, I carry on my mother's dream and legacy of helping others along life's pathway. My mother Martha Brown passed away in 2008. It is because of her that I'm in the real estate business. She made me the person that I am today. Mom once said to me, "Bill, you only live once and if you go through life and don't take time to help others, you have wasted your time on earth!"
