A few years ago when I was considering going into real estate I realized that every experience I had thus far in life had prepared me to become a realtor. First, when I was about eight years old, my father used to bring me to his rental properties to help with apartment maintenance and repairs. As time went on, owning real estate rentals
became his most lucrative "hobby" and I got to help him build houses from the ground up. I know what it takes to build a solid foundation, to tile and grout, to do electrical wiring, and to not just fix cracks in a wall, but identify where they came from and what caused the cracks in the first place. I was also an elementary school teacher for 15 years. (You're probably thinking, how in the world does that help?) Well, if you think about it, I was teaching young people complicated processes, and informing them on how the world works. I now know God was using this experience to prepare me to become a realtor because a lot of the skills and tactics I used to teach children, I now use today to inform clients on the how the home/buying selling world works. By educating clients and walking them through the process, they become more comfortable knowing what's happening and how it's being handled. And, last but certainly not least, my career as a pharmaceutical rep allowed me to travel all over Tennessee, driving through tons of cities and neighborhoods, which I can now point to when clients are looking for certain characteristics of their new home town. Finally, I am people person. I love helping people and being there for people. I love seeing the joy on their face on moving day when they're unpacking their new home. It melts my heart when their children and dog run around in a backyard they've never had. Being a part of such an important piece of a family's journey gives me purpose. I am thankful to God for giving me the experience and skills throughout my life to be able to do what I do today: make people's dreams come true.
