Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Tennessee State Quarter

The Tennessee state quarter was created by artist Paul Cunningham, who was chosen by the Tennessee Arts Commission in 2002 to design the quarter. The quarter features the image of three stars from the Tennessee state flag, which represent the three regions of Tennessee: East, Middle, and West. The stars are set against a blue background, which is meant to represent the state's nickname, the "Volunteer State." The upper left field of the quarter features a trumpet, which is to represent the state's musical heritage, and a wreath of olive branches, which is to represent peace. The lower right field of the quarter features a scene of the Tennessee State Capitol, which is located in Nashville. The quarter also features the phrase "The Volunteer State," which is the state's official nickname.

The second Tennessee State Quarter

The Tennessee National Park quarter was released in 2021 as part of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, as designed by John Flanagan. The reverse features a representation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located in the state of Tennessee. The design contains a view of the park's lush landscape with a historic log cabin. The inscriptions include the name of the park, "GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS," the state of Tennessee, "TENNESSEE," and the year of issue, "2021."

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program is an ongoing series of America-themed coins that honor America's national parks and other national sites. The program began in 2010 and will feature 56 coins in total, one for each state, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. The coins are a great way to honor America's natural beauty and celebrate the diversity of its cultural heritage. The Tennessee National Park quarter is the 39th coin released in the series.
