Then read on!

In 1873, League City was founded by a group of investors from Galveston who purchased the land and named it after the original investor's home town of League, Pennsylvania. The town was originally intended to be a port city, but it never developed into one. Instead, it became a farming and ranching community. In the early 1900s, League City began to grow and prosper as a result of the oil boom in nearby Houston.
