I was born and raised in Texas. I'm 4th generation in Austin. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin, 1977, B.A. in English, minor in Spanish. I graduated from the University of Houston, Bates College of Law in 1980. I was licensed to practice law in Texas, 1980, and in Connecticut, 1981. I was a partner in a general practice law firm in Manchester, Connecticut, 1981-1986. I returned to Austin, Texas 1986 and spent 14 years raising a family and acquiring a few rental properties. I was licensed by Texas Real Estate Commission in 1999. I. worked at Henry S. Miller for 1 year, then a small brokerage Texas Classic Properties for one more year and then got my brokerage license and formed my company, Rosenthal Properties.

Realtors use forms created by the Texas Broker Lawyer Committee and then promulgated by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) so that they can provide service to their clients without practicing law. However, there are many client situations that can be better served by a lawyer. As a broker and a lawyer, I can provide services to a broad spectrum of real estate clients. Everyday I provide a full perspective to address general legal questions, issues with title, survey, and more.

I am an experienced real estate broker with a general practice legal background. and 20 years brokerage and sales experience in all parts of Austin and Westlake. I have 30 years experience developing and managing a rental portfolio. My goal is to teach clients what to look for in a home and educate them to make informed decisions about a purchase. If you are an investor, my goal is to teach you a about the business of real estate, to help you recognize problems and to work through solutions.

I still maintain a small law practice focused on limited probate work and court appointed receiverships of real estate. A receivership is a statutory remedy which a court can use when a property is owned by persons with conflicting interests or when there is a lack of authority to sell. Generally these are partition cases and disputed estates. Jurisdiction can be in the Travis County District Court or a Probate Court in Travis or surrounding county.

I love working with homeowners and investors. I didn't set out to develop a rental property business, or be a broker, but since I live in Austin, I really couldn't have chosen a better career. There are a gazillion lawyers in Austin, and even though we have a great legal system, it's cumbersome and expensive, and often unsatisfying. So I put my lawyering skills to good use in the real estate business.

Do you know what a realtors' biggest complaint is about lawyers ? Deal breakers !!!!! In defense of my fellow lawyers, the vast majority just want to keep their clients out of trouble. In addition, statutory and legal issues surrounding real estate can be complex and undetectable. When lawyers are involved in real estate transactions, there are generally very good reasons they are needed.

Ultimately, my goal is to educate the client to the max... because in the end... the client brings the money and buying power to the table and makes the decisions. I just help them bridge the gap !
