I earned my Texas Real Estate license in 2007 after returning to my home State of Texas in 2005. Prior to my return, I lived in many States as well as in Spain. My father was a Civilian Personnel Officer for the Department of the Air Force, so my family traveled extensively. I eventually settled in California after graduating from the University of Santa Clara with a degree in Philosophy. After graduation, I did volunteer work at a local State Hospital where I was introduced to developmentally disabled individuals. I was amazed by the diverse population, some that truly needed nursing care and many who just needed training in adaptive behaviors to live in the community. This experience inspired me to enroll in an innovative Psychiatric Technician curriculum at the local Community College. Unlike the former program that was taught at the State Hospitals and used a Medical Model treatment approach, this program emphasized newer concepts such as the Normalization principle, the Developmental Model and Life Skills training. After graduating and taking the State exam, I was hired at the local State Hospital where I used my newly found concepts to initiate changes. After a successful and fulfilling 20-year career with the Department of Developmental Disabilities during which I succeeded in making meaningful changes, I was recruited by the Department of Corrections for the challenging position of Standards Compliance Coordinator. My responsibility was to devise and implement strategies to obtain Title 22 licensure for the Correctional Treatment Center at a State prison. The primary challenge was to bring both the correctional and medical staff and respective Departments into compliance with Federal and State regulations. After successfully obtaining licensure for the Correctional Treatment Center, I was recruited by the Department of Mental Health as a Program Director for a Mental Health facility at the same prison. My responsibility was to complete the building of the facility, recruiting staff, and implementing strategies to obtain the licensure for the facility. After successfully completing my assignment, I ended my career with the State of California and retired in 2005. I brought my myriad skill sets obtained in my 28-year career to my real estate career.

My goal is to provide my clients with the critical information and representation required for them to determine the Fair Market Value of the respective properties whether Residential, Farm & Ranch, Unimproved land, Multi-Family, or Investment, and for them to realize their goals. To this end, I now bring my successful sales experience with JB Goodwin, Coldwell Banker, and Paula Thomas Real Estate Group to my own Brokerage, DeVillar Properties, to aid you in achieving your real estate goals. I invite you to contact me to discuss how I can help you in your real estate endeavor.
