The Official Texas State Quarters

Texas State Motto: Friendship
Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Texas State Quarter

The Texas state quarter was created in 2004 and features a design based on the Texas state seal. The design includes the Texas Lone Star surrounded by the words "The Lone Star State" and the year of statehood, 1845. The five stars represent the five nations that have held sovereignty over Texas: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, and the United States. The olive branch and live oak branches are symbols of peace and strength, respectively. The plow and wheat sheaf honor the state's rich agricultural traditions. The state flower, bluebonnet, is featured in the foreground.

The second Texas State Quarter

The Texas National Park Quarter is part of the "America the Beautiful Quarters" series, a collection of 56 quarters issued by the United States Mint between 2010 and 2021. The coins honor national parks and other sites of historical and cultural importance. The Texas National Park Quarter, which was issued in 2020, celebrates the Big Bend National Park, located in the Chihuahuan Desert of West Texas.

The design of the Texas National Park Quarter features a roadrunner, the official state bird of Texas, with a view of Santa Elena Canyon in the background. The canyon is a popular destination within the park, and the roadrunner is a common sight in the desert. The inscription "Big Bend" appears just above the roadrunner, and the words "Texas" and "2020" appear in the lower left corner of the coin. The design also includes the inscriptions "E Pluribus Unum" and "United States of America," along with the motto "Liberty."

The Texas National Park Quarter is a symbol of the beauty and history of the state of Texas, as well as the importance of preserving its natural sites. The roadrunner is a reminder of the state's wild nature, while the canyon signifies the ruggedness of the Chihuahuan Desert. The coin is a reminder of the importance of protecting our national parks, and the need for citizens to be aware of the environment and our shared history.
