Crewe is a small village in Virginia with a population of approximately 2,300 people. It was founded in the late 1800s as a railroad town and was named after the chief engineer of the Norfolk and Western Railway, who was also named Crewe. The village was a major hub for commerce and transportation in the early 20th century, and it was even the site of a major railway repair facility. Today, Crewe still serves as an important transportation junction and is home to the Crewe Railroad Museum, which features exhibits on the history of the railroad in Virginia.
