Courtland is a small village with a population of approximately 1,000 people. It is the county seat of Southampton County and has a rich history dating back to the 1700s. One of the most notable historical sites in Courtland is the Southampton County Courthouse, which was built in 1834 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The village also has several parks and recreational areas, including the Courtland Recreation Center and the Boykins Millpond State Park. Additionally, Courtland hosts an annual Peach Festival, which attracts visitors from all over the state.
