Dumfries is one of the oldest continuously inhabited English settlements in the United States, dating back to the early 1700s. It served as an important colonial port and is now a historic district with a mix of residential and commercial areas. The town has a population of around 5,000 and is located just 30 miles south of Washington D.C. It's a popular destination for history buffs, with attractions such as the Weems-Botts Museum and the Quantico National Cemetery.
