HELLO! Please allow me to tell you a bit about myself here. I am a WA licensed associated Managing Broker with MORE Realty Inc, working from my home office located here in the heart of the gorge near Bingen/White Salmon, Washington. I grew up here in the Columbia River Gorge area, moving here in 1963. I spent my whole childhood basically here locally, going to school and working as all young people did during those summer months in between. I eventually left to go to the University of Washington, where I majored in cellular biology and studied other subjects of interest. After college and spending a few more years of traveling around the world and living elsewhere, I returned home and went into real estate with my father. We worked together until he retired and I kept the family office open for a few more years on my own but eventually closed it and joined a local larger office (franchise) down the street and worked there for a couple of years (2009-10). Then at the beginning of January 2011, along with another very experienced and knowledgeable agent as a partner, we started a new real estate agency, the idea being that it would be small enough to be flexible and responsive to the market and still have the freedom and control necessary to give our customers the very best service possible without worrying about larger remote corporate control. Simple things like choosing our sign colors and sizes and tailoring our signs individually to specific properties and how we choose to advertise were very important to us. We were determined and prospered well within the new parameters of the real estate market. We dedicated ourselves to being here for our community to give them great real estate customer care and we worked hard to do just that. It's a testament to our professionalism and local good reputations as brokers that our new company not only survived, it thrived and became competitively one of the top offices here in the gorge. We did that together for more than 11 years. Then, as we all know, covid hit and the rules changed once again. Still, we mustered through and made it work. But time marches on and so does the technology and once again, we've made changes to the way we work. We closed down the physical office in town and each of us went our separate ways to work from our home offices. I chose to join MORE Realty Inc out of the Portland Vancouver market because their business model was much more conducive to the way I work independently as a mature and very experienced managing level broker, needing little supervision and acting as a mentor and role model and a resource for younger agents just learning the ropes of this business. MORE Realty is a huge company with nearly 900 agents and counting, but I'm one of only a few in our area. The support staffing at MORE has my back at all times and are there to help me whenever I need it. I couldn't be happier with this new arrangement. My former partner also downsized and began working from home and taking more time for other pursuits. It's been an amazing nearly 30 years now of this career and the changes in the way we realtors have had to adapt to work have kept it quite interesting. BUT the basics of good customer service survive and thrive. I'm still here. I'm still working with a focus on problem solving and individual attention to my clients. As long as I can still find the joy in this business, I'll likely keep on doing it for more years to come.
