1. Everett was founded in 1890 by a group of business entrepreneurs who were looking for a place to build a mill.

2. Everett was named after the founder, Charles L. Colby, and his son, Edward Everett.

4. On July 14, 1897, the first train arrived in Everett bringing with it the first permanent settlers.

5. The city was incorporated on May 4, 1893, and is the county seat of Snohomish County.

6. Everett is home to the largest public marina on the West Coast, Port of Everett Marina.

7. The Navy built a shipyard in Everett in 1941 which became the homeport for many ships during World War II. It is now known as Naval Station Everett.

8. In 1997, Boeing moved its wide-body jet assembly line to Everett and it is now the world's largest building in terms of volume.
