1. The village of Gleed was originally established as a stagecoach stop in 1889.
2. The Gleed-Union Pacific Rail Line was built through the village in 1891, connecting it to Yakima and Ellensburg.
3. In 1903, the first telephone service came to the village, and in 1907 electric lights were installed.
4. During World War II, Gleed was home to a Japanese Internment Camp from 1942-1945.
5. In the 1950's, Gleed was the site of several atomic bomb tests conducted by the United States Government.
6. In the 1970's, Gleed was the site of a Peaceful Nuclear Explosion (PNE) test conducted by the United States and Canada.
7. In 2012, a new post office was opened in the village, providing additional services to the local community.
