1. Rosalia was first established in 1881 as a stop on the Northern Pacific Railroad.
2. The town was named after the daughter of an early settler, Rosalia Linn.
3. Rosalia has been known as the "Cherry Pie Capital of the World" since 1925, when the first cherry pie was served at a local cafe.
4. The town was the first in Whitman County to have electricity, thanks to the hydroelectric plant built by the Washington Water Power Company in 1902.
5. In 1910, Rosalia was the site of a massive forest fire that destroyed much of the town and surrounding area.
6. Rosalia is home to the oldest continuously operating movie theater in Washington State, built in 1915.
7. The Rosalia Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and features many historic buildings from the early 20th century.
