Stanwood is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located on the Stillaguamish River and the south end of Lake Goodwin. The population was 6,231 at the 2010 census.
Facts:
1. Stanwood was officially incorporated on March 19, 1903.
2. The town of Stanwood is named after a local homesteader, William Stanwood, who built a home in the area in 1883.
Important Historical Events:
1. On May 31, 1919, the opening of the newly-constructed Stanwood Bridge was celebrated with a large parade and festivities.
2. In August of 1927, the Great Northern Railway connected Stanwood to Everett, making it easier for people to travel to and from the town.
