Brush Prairie is named after the thick undergrowth of brush and small trees in the area. The first settlers to the area were the Udall family, who arrived in 1852. In 1891, the Brush Prairie post office was established, and the town was officially incorporated in 1951. It is now home to over 7,000 people.
