1. Carnation is the birthplace of the world-famous Carnation Evaporated Milk. The first can of Carnation Evaporated Milk was produced in the village of Carnation on August 10, 1899.
2. On May 18, 1908, a post office was opened in Carnation, making it the first post office to open in King County.
3. On November 30, 1909, the first public school in Carnation opened its doors.
4. The Carnation Congregational Church was built in 1910 and is still in use today as an active place of worship.
5. In 1911, the Great Northern Railway extended its service to Carnation, making it much easier for people to travel to and from the village.
6. In 1915, the first library in Carnation opened its doors to local residents.
7. On April 27, 1923, the Carnation Creamery opened its doors and began producing dairy products such as ice cream and cheese.
8. The village of Carnation has been home to many famous people over the years including actress Meryl Streep and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
9. In 1975, an area of land near Lake Marcel was set aside as a nature preserve known as the Tolt MacDonald Park & Campground. The park is still open to visitors today and offers camping and recreation activities such as fishing, swimming, and boating.
