1. The town of Castle Rock was officially founded in 1851 as a stopping point on the Oregon Trail.

2. On October 28, 1855, the Battle of Castle Rock occurred between Native Americans and U.S. Army troops which led to the death of Chief Leschi of the Nisqually tribe.
