1. Malone, Washington is a village in Whitman County and was named after James W. Malone, a settler who came to the area in 1878.

2. The first post office in Malone was established in 1883.

3. The historic landmark of the Malone Round Barn was built in 1906 and is still standing today.

4. The Great Fire of 1910 destroyed much of the village, including the original town hall, but the town was quickly rebuilt.

5. In 1972, the Malone School District merged with the surrounding St. John-Endicott School District to form the Whitman County Rural District.
