Read on!
Longbranch is a small unincorporated community located on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. It was founded in the late 1800s by Norwegian settlers who had traveled from their home country to the US to find work and build a new life. Longbranch was originally called "Haugen" after the Haugen family who were some of the earliest settlers. The village has had a long and diverse history, from being used as a logging camp, to a summer getaway for city dwellers, and even as a filming location for the movie "Twilight" in 2008. Interestingly enough, Longbranch is one of only two communities in Kitsap County that did not experience a population decline during the Great Depression.
