Stevenson, Washington is located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge and is known as the "Gateway to the Columbia River Gorge". It was named after James Stevenson, a civil engineer who surveyed the area in 1891. The town was originally a lumber mill town and was incorporated in 1910. In the early 20th century, it was known as the "Asparagus Capital of the World" due to its many asparagus fields. Today, Stevenson is home to many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and fishing.
