Kirkland is located in King County, Washington, and is a suburb of Seattle. It is situated along the shore of Lake Washington, at the mouth of Lake Washington Ship Canal. It is known for having one of the most beautiful waterfronts in the Puget Sound region.

-Kirkland was founded in 1888 by a group of settlers led by Peter Kirk.
-Kirkland is the home to Microsoft's first campus outside of Redmond, which opened in 1986.
-The population of Kirkland has grown rapidly since the early 2000s, to an estimated 53,000 people in 2020.
Historical Event:
In October 2001, President George W. Bush visited Kirkland as part of his "No Child Left Behind" tour. During his visit, he visited two local schools and addressed the students about the importance of education. This visit marked the first time a sitting president had visited Kirkland.
