Ferndale, Washington is a city located in Whatcom County, about 10 miles north of Bellingham. It was first settled in 1872 by Seth and Mary Woodworth, who named their settlement Woodworthville after their own surname. The town was later renamed Ferndale in 1888, after the many firs that grew in the area. Fun Fact: Ferndale is home to the world's largest chicken barbecue festival, held annually in August.
