1. Satsop was founded in 1892 and was originally called "Satsop Station" after the nearby Satsop River.
2. In the early 1900s, Satsop was a thriving lumber town with several sawmills and businesses.
3. In the 1950s, Satsop was the site of a proposed nuclear power plant. Although construction began, it was eventually abandoned due to cost overruns and other complications.
4. Today, Satsop is a rural unincorporated community with a population of approximately 500 people.
5. The village is home to two museums, the Satsop Railroad Museum and the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Museum.
6. In 2009, the town held its first ever Satsop Fair which included a parade, food vendors, and carnival rides.
