Derek attended Central Methodist College on a football scholarship. He then served in the United States Marine Corps where he was an honor graduate out of boot camp and was stationed at Camp Lejeune. He was in 1st battalion 2nd marines in the infantry and became a Scout Sniper and his tour of duty took him to Cuba, Japan, Korea and all over the western United States.
Derek has deep family roots to Monroe County, WV. His ancestors date back to the early 1700's when they settled in the Greenville area. Derek relocated to Monroe County in 2003 from Orlando, Florida to join his familys successful real estate company, Great Mountain Properties, which he took over as principal broker in 2010. He specializes in land, farms and recreational properties and was awarded Greenbrier Valley Realtor of the Year in 2009.
Derek is a former president (2011) of the Greenbrier Valley Board Realtors and also served as director for the previous five years. He is a licensed associate broker in West Virginia and has earned his Graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI) and Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) designations. Derek is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtors, and Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
Derek looks forward to helping buyers and sellers reach all their real estate goals.
He enjoys attending church, weight lifting, golf, hunting and all outdoor activities. Derek is the proud chair of Kids Kare, sponsored by The Greenbrier County Board of Realtors which donates shoes, jackets and school supplies to the local county schools.
