Tyler County is located in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, and is bordered by Ohio and Pennsylvania. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Tyler County had an estimated population of 9,103 in 2019. The county is 93.7% White, 3.2% African American, 1.3% Hispanic or Latino, 0.6% Asian, 0.3% Native American, and 0.1% Pacific Islander or other race. The median household income was $42,969 in 2018, which is lower than the state average of $50,982. The poverty rate was 15.8%, higher than the state average of 12%.
