Overall working with Deb was a good experience. At the end of the day we got a house that we love and are happy in it. Deb spent a lot of time showing us various houses and despite a lot of trouble with new lock systems never got frustrated with us for how many houses we looked at (or at least never showed if she was). A couple points of improvement I would say is the way she talked to us throughout the process left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

When we were looking at houses we would tend to nitpick at little things even though they were little just because we were having a hard time deciding so we wanted to put everything on a pros and cons list to make it easier and plus even if it's a small issue it's still an issue and it can become bigger if not dealt with most of the time. Deb would constantly insist on the issues not being a big deal and it just came off as her writing off any of our concerns as not a problem that we should be concerned with. I get that she was probably just trying to sell the house so it's not something I'm going to hold against her too much, it's just a point of improvement. Another thing was when putting in an offer I had asked for advice from my grandfather who has been building, selling, and buying properties for a long time and I put in the starting offer the way he told me to in order to start of negotiations aggressively. Deb almost seemed offended by the whole process and tried to get us to take a lighter approach and when I explained I was following my grandfather's advice she made a passive aggressive remark about her experience being more than his which overall wasn't true at all, but I let that one be since there was no point in arguing about it. Lastly, after we had the home inspected, it came back that the wiring wasn't properly grounded in a majority of the house and I asked Deb if we could have that looked into. I understood it was expensive to fix and really I would have been fine even if it was just having a professional electrician look at it and get a quote, but Deb straight up refused to even have it looked into stating it's common for older houses to not be grounded and it wasn't an issue. My main concern was for my expensive computer equipment which I'm not exactly comfortable having on ungrounded outlets, but she pretty much wrote off that concern as well.

I know it's easy to remember and focus on the bad things so I'm going to list a few things that Deb did that we liked and helped make the experience a positive one. As I stated before Deb showed us a lot of houses and was happy to do so despite the new electronic locks giving us a lot of trouble. She was prepared and insightful on a lot of the construction of the house and answered any all questions we had about the places and even had a packet with the info printed off for us. After closing she gave us a little house warming gift which I understand is something the realtor does for all closes, but it was still nice regardless. She also came in clutch at the last hour when we tried to get into the house for the first time the seller only provided one of the keys which only worked on the detached garage and the front door, but the front door was inaccessible due to the screen door being locked from the inside, and the keys to the back and side door were inside the house. Deb called and paid for a locksmith to come out and get us into the side door and it took maybe a 10-15 minutes for us to get into the house so overall it wasn't a big deal at all when it could have easily been.

TLDR;
Deb is great with the house knowledge and willing to go out of her way to make sure the sale is smooth, but was a bit dismissive of buyer concerns.

Stephanie McIntosh, a seller from West Bend, IA
First and foremost, what I have learned from Deb is invaluable. Agents are not our friends but are there to share their expertise on this transaction that we are doing. Deb has made this transaction incredibly easy. Deb is responsive within a 0-6 hour timeline. We all have to understand that Agents are not our friends, they are dedicated, intelligent people who balance. She is never bothered by the questions I've asked and will spend the time needed, not matter how much time that takes.

When I see a post like the above, it makes me wonder what that person must be going through. Because as a whole we must support one another. And posts like that, does not reflect the Deb Almond I know. Agents are not our friends. They are people of expertise and understand the mortgage inside and out.

Deb - thank you for the time, the effort, the willingness to answer my questions that I asked multiple times. You definitely know what you are doing. And I appreciate everything you have done to date.

Absolute worst realtor I have ever encountered. Very unprofessional and rude. Rummaged through cupboards of the house like she was looking for something without the seller present Needs to be in a new career path
