We interviewed a few realtors in the process of putting our home for sale before deciding to go with Jennifer. She has been easy to work with and kept us abreast of all the developments. What was especially nice was, since we were both busy preparing for a big move, we were able to entrust Jennifer with the work she had suggested to help enhance the saleability of our house. We were already aware that some upgrades were needed, like a paint job and other miscellaneous things and Jennifer suggested upgrades that would yield the most mileage without going hog-wild on upgrading every single item to resemble a brand new home (which it isn't). As first time home buyers, my wife and I did not know what to expect when trying to buy in one of the most competitive markets in history. Fortunately, we were referred to Jennifer.
From the beginning, Jennifer was committed to making us feel comfortable as first time home buyers. She started by walking us through the entire home buying process, and patiently answered our many questions in great detail. She also helped us understand the market conditions and what a winning, long-term strategy is in this situation. By the time we started going on house tours, my wife and I were much more comfortable and confident about the process and market.
Jennifer's expertise and familiarity with the Bay Area was made clear when we started going on house tours. Before we even scheduled the tours, Jennifer described in great detail the many neighborhoods we were interested in and helped narrow down our search to fit our personal preferences. She knew which neighborhoods had high Mello Roos taxes, which neighborhoods were under a flight path, which neighborhoods were best for renting vs. owning, etc. Jennifer also asked us many questions to figure out what we were looking for as buyers, such that we spend our time effectively when touring houses.
Each house tour was a lesson learned. Jennifer educated us using each property as an example. In older homes, Jennifer pointed out which age-related issues were severe and which were easily resolved. She also provided good estimates for cost of repair or renovate, citing her vast experience as a realtor. Jennifer also carefully reviewed disclosures with us, making sure we understood the jargon in plain english. In newer homes, Jennifer noted when there was something we should be aware of, such as a low-quality house flip or poor HOA budgeting.
Jennifer is also compassionate and level-headed as an agent. She does not try to get her clients to buy as quickly as possible so that she can maximize her transactions. Instead, Jennifer hopes that her clients find the best possible match, even if this means the house search process takes a bit longer. My wife and I were definitely emotional about a few of the offers we put down and would often want to overpay to get the house. Jennifer was the one holding us back, making sure we didn't buy a property that was way overvalued. My wife and I also thought of compromising on important principles such as location, safety, and comfort such that we could find a property faster. Jennifer was always there warning us that patience is the best strategy, and that it would pay off. Looking back on the entire process, we are so grateful that Jennifer was our agent. We ended up finding the perfect home for us at a fair value and have no regrets on the offers we missed out on. We are a young couple came to the US less than 2 years ago. We had a baby and we needed a home! Jennifer's "greatness" did not limit to herself, but also showed up profoundly with the great loan team she introduced. They also did a fantastic job to get the loan approved in time despite our weak credit background. Jennifer's help did not stop after we got the house.
