Ali is a rockstar. We were first-time home buyers and were connected through Zillow. Though we didn't know whether we would ultimately buy now or wait, Ali curated an excellent selection of showings on our first night together. We put in an offer that first night!

As a first time home buyer, I did tons of research into realtors because we wanted to make sure the person representing us knew what was going on (since, we generally had no clue). So many realtors advertised themselves as 'specializing' in first time buyer transactions or noting they 'love to work with first time buyers,' but couldn't give a reason why. So, when a friend recommended Ali because he was so helpful in the purchase of their first home, I was curious why. She told me that Ali wasn't just trying to sell them any house, in fact, he urged them against buying the house that was at the top of their budget. He was honest and eager to share with them what potential challenges he saw with each house (i.e. it may have mold; was in a flood plain that required much higher insurance; had a old roof; had poorly done updates, etc.).
Realized that we probably wouldn't be able to detect any of these issues on our own, and really eager to find a realtor who was honest instead of driven by a high dollar commission, we met with Ali.
We met on a Monday night, Ali was really flexible to meet us both after work, and he was already ready to show us places that Saturday and Sunday. We'd worked with a realtor previously who, after 2 weeks, didn't even have an agreement in place with us and never ended up taking us to see a house before we decided we didn't want to buy with them. Ali's attentiveness and his interest in making sure we found a place really put us at ease.
It seems Ali knows everyone in Chicago, so with a few phone calls we were able to see many places before they were listed or during hours they weren't actually available for showing. We decided late on Sunday afternoon to put an offer on one of those places, and Ali worked through the evening to prepare our offer and submit it that night.
Ali included contingencies to ensure we could get our of our lease, as well as requests for the seller to cover almost all of our closing costs. These were among the dozens of options we would have had no clue even existed without Ali. He ended up saving us tens of thousands ( literally) in closing costs.
Between ratification and closing, which for us was a long, nerve-racking month, he kept in close contact and made sure we understood all of the pretty intimidating stuff that you've got to get through in that time frame, including walk throughs, termite inspections, surveys, and of course, securing a loan and a title.
