Garden City is a small city located in Chatham County, Georgia, United States. The city has a population of around 9,500 people and covers an area of 8.3 square miles. It is located just four miles northwest of Savannah and is considered a part of the Savannah metro area.
Garden City was incorporated in 1939 and was initially a farming community that produced vegetables, pecans, and melons. However, with its proximity to the city of Savannah, it has since developed into an industrial and commercial hub. It is home to the Port of Savannah, one of the busiest ports in the United States, and a major gateway for international trade.
In addition to its economic importance, Garden City offers residents and visitors a number of outdoor recreational activities, such as the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, where visitors can fish, hike or birdwatch. The city also has a number of parks, including the Garden City Recreation Complex, which has playgrounds, ball fields, and tennis courts.
