Newton County, in the great state of Georgia, was first established on December 24, 1821. Named after the famous Revolutionary War hero and legislator, Sergeant John Newton, the county is positioned in the north-central part of the state. Newton County played a significant role in the American Civil War, where it was heavily involved in various military operations.

Covington, the county seat, is often referred to as the "Hollywood of the South" due to its rich history in film and television. More than ninety productions have been shot in this region, including popular shows like "The Vampire Diaries," "The Dukes of Hazzard," and "In The Heat of the Night," as well as movies such as "My Cousin Vinny" and "Remember the Titans."

One fun fact about this region is that it holds an annual film festival, the Covington Fuzz Run, which includes a 5K and 1-mile race for enthusiasts and serves as a fundraiser for the Covington Police Department. The event promotes public safety and fosters a close bond between the community and law enforcement.
