Neola is a small village located in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, United States. It is located about 20 miles northeast of Council Bluffs and has a population of around 900 people. The village was established in 1871 and was originally named "New Athens." However, the name was later changed to Neola, which is a combination of the word "neo" meaning new and "ola" meaning Athens in Greek.
