One fun and verifiable fact about Brimfield, Illinois is that it was home to the world's tallest man, Robert Wadlow. He was born in Alton, Illinois in 1918 and grew up in nearby Brimfield. Wadlow measured 8 feet 11.1 inches tall at the time of his death in 1940, making him the tallest person in recorded history. Brimfield hosts an annual celebration in honor of Wadlow called the "Brimfield Gigantic Day Festival."
