Kosciusko County, located in the northern part of the state of Indiana, was founded on February 1, 1836. It was named in honor of the Polish-American Revolutionary War hero, General Tadeusz Kociuszko, who fought for the United States in the 18th century. The county seat is Warsaw, which is sometimes called the Orthopedic Capital of the World due to its high concentration of orthopedic medical device manufacturers.

The area was initially inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Miami and Potawatomi, before European-American settlers arrived in the 19th century. The rich farmland attracted many farmers, who helped the county grow into an agriculturally driven region.

As settlers moved into the region, transportation infrastructure, such as railroads and highways, were built to connect the county to other parts of the state and the country. Since then, the economy of Kosciusko County has expanded into various industries, including manufacturing, retail, and tourism.

A fun fact about Kosciusko County is that it is often called "Lake Country" due to the presence of over 100 lakes. The largest of these lakes is Lake Wawasee, which is the largest natural lake in Indiana, covering approximately 3,060 acres. Lake Wawasee hosts numerous water sports and recreational activities, making it a popular tourist destination in the state.
